Clean and safe yacht transport across continents

As seasonal repositioning, regatta participation, and long-term cruising become increasingly popular among yacht owners, the demand for reliable, sustainable, and safe transport solutions continues to grow. Sevenstar Yacht Transport meets this global need with confidence, powered by the Spliethoff Group and its fleet of 140 company-owned vessels. This unique combination of technical strength and environmental foresight sets the standard for modern yacht logistics.

A technical backbone: purpose-built vessels

As part of the Spliethoff Group, Sevenstar operates vessels specifically engineered for heavy-lift and yacht-specific cargo, optimized for long-haul ocean crossings. These ships feature reinforced decks, custom cradle systems, and dynamic stability controls, tailored to accommodate yachts ranging from 30-foot cruisers to 60-meter superyachts.

Technical excellence goes far beyond structural design. All newbuilds are equipped with IMO Tier III-compliant engines, which significantly reduce nitrogen oxide (NOₓ) emissions and contribute to cleaner air in emission control areas. To protect marine biodiversity, all vessels are fitted with ballast water treatment systems that comply with the IMO Ballast Water Management Convention, preventing the transfer of invasive species during intercontinental voyages.

Efficiency is further enhanced through advanced antifouling coatings, including premium silicone-based systems that reduce drag, prevent biofouling, and lower fuel consumption. A recent example is MV Singelgracht, treated with a high-performance silicone coating that reduced CO₂ emissions and extended cleaning intervals.

Spliethoff has also developed an in-house Performance Monitoring System that continuously collects operational data from onboard machinery. Enriched with external inputs such as weather and sea state, this system provides a real-time overview of vessel performance. Building on this, a hull condition monitoring system utilizes machine learning and digital twin technology to detect overconsumption caused by biofouling, ensuring that hull cleaning is performed only when necessary.

In collaboration with charterers, three Bore vessels within the group now operate on Bio-LNG, a renewable alternative to traditional marine fuels. Additionally, Spliethoff is implementing Value Maritime’s Filtree System, a patented exhaust gas cleaning technology that removes sulfur, CO₂, and 99% of ultra-fine particulate matter. The onboard carbon capture process stores CO₂ in battery containers, which can be offloaded for use in greenhouse crop cultivation, methanol production, or permanent underground storage.

From engine upgrades and antifouling innovations to digital monitoring and alternative fuels, the Spliethoff Group continues to redefine what it means to operate a modern, sustainable fleet. These investments ensure that every voyage respects the delicate balance of the oceans it crosses, especially in the environmentally sensitive waters of Southeast Asia, the Pacific, and beyond.

Navigating with intelligence: The SPOS advantage

Long-distance yacht transport demands intelligent navigation. Weather patterns, ocean currents, and seasonal shifts all affect the safety and efficiency of a voyage. That’s why Sevenstar vessels are equipped with the Ship Performance Optimization System (SPOS), a powerful routing tool that converts raw meteorological data into practical navigation strategies.

SPOS enables captains to proactively adjust course and speed, helping to avoid adverse conditions and improve fuel efficiency. Updated multiple times daily, the system allows real-time route adjustments to stay ahead of developing weather systems. For example, when crossing the South China Sea during monsoon season, SPOS can reroute around high-wave zones or delay departure to avoid a tropical depression.

Captains use the tool to plan routes based on wind strength and direction, ocean currents and swell patterns, barometric pressure, storm paths, and vessel-specific performance metrics. The system also supports fuel optimization, helping vessels reduce emissions and ensure timely arrivals, critical when coordinating with marinas, customs, and owners’ schedules.

A philosophy of foresight

Sevenstar’s approach to yacht transport is based on foresight and responsibility. From clean engines to smart routing, every part of the operation is designed to protect the vessel, its crew, the cargo, and the environment. Investments in SPOS, sustainable technologies, and strategic port choices show a deep understanding of the complexities of global shipping and a commitment to solving them with intelligence and care.

Sevenstar Yacht Transport is ready to deliver not only yachts, but also confidence, safety, and technical excellence.
